Surgery Hours
The surgery is open between 8.15am - 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, except Thursdays when it is open between 8.15am - 5.00pm. The phone lines are open from 8.00am.
Consultations are by appointment, but we run an open surgery between 3.30 - 5.30pm on Fridays. This is for emergency consultations only, ie for problems that cannot wait until Monday. Open surgeries are often busy. This means you may have to wait some time to see a doctor.

Saturday morning surgery is for pre-booked appointments only and for patients who would find it difficult to attend Monday to Friday because of work commitments etc.
Out Of Hours Service
Shropshire County Primary Care Trust is responsible for commissioning GP services outside normal surgery hours. Out of hours services are provided between 6.00pm and 8.00am the following day during the week and on
weekends from 6.00pm on Fridays through to 8.00am on the following Monday. Bank Holidays are also treated as out of hours.
If you call Plas Ffynnon Medical Centre on (01691) 655844 outside normal surgery hours, you will be redirected automatically to the answering service on 08444 068888. A call handler will ask for your details and your reason for calling (telephone calls may be recorded). A doctor or nurse will then contact you:
- to give advice - it is often possible to sort out problems over the phone.
- to arrange an appointment with the doctor at the Primary Care Centre. If you attend without an appointment you may not be seen.
- to arrange a home visit if you need to be seen and are not fit enough to travel eg very elderly or bedbound patients, terminal care cases.
Please note: if your problem is not urgent, please wait until the surgery next opens. If you are not sure how urgent your problem is, ring NHS Direct for advice (see below). Please remember: in very urgent cases or
if there is a problem reaching the doctor and you feel you cannot wait, call an ambulance on 999.
Have You Called NHS Direct?
NHS Direct is a confidential 24 hour medical service that you can call for immediate advice on what to do if you or a family member feels ill or if you need advice on particular health conditions or medications. If
you can, please call NHS Direct for routine advice rather than the surgery. This will allow your doctors more time to manage more serious problems. CALL 0845 46 47 or visit NHS Direct online www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
